Seabridge Primary School's approach to Phonics

Updated: 18/12/2023 1008 KB

Starting in September 2021 we are beginning a new spelling journey, more information will follow at the Spelling Evening in October. However, below are the annual spelling sheets for your child's year group. Children in Year 1 will take part in a spelling test relating to the graphemes being taught in English and some high frequency words and as such do not have a set spelling sheet.

If you have any questions, please contact your child's English teacher.

Aspirations for the future:

At Seabridge we are always thinking about how to prepare our children for the next stage in their learning journey and beyond. We regularly talk to the children about their aspirations and take the time to consider the jobs that English is needed for.

The children have all completed aspiration jars to allow them to think about the career they would like to have.

If you really enjoy English (whether that reading or writing), here are some of the jobs you could aspire to do in the future:

  • Journalist
  • Author
  • TV Presenter
  • Police
  • Attractions manager
